HZ University of Applied Sciences is the institute of higher professional education in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is uniquely located on the beautiful Zeeland coastline. HZ offers proven quality of education: the greater part of our study programmes ranks among the top ten of the Netherlands!

Around 4000 students study here and approximately 400 of them come from abroad. We offer a personal and informal setting in which you are the one who sets the course. We offer all the possibilities and accommodations for you to study successfully and enjoy yourself at the same time.

We do everything we can to offer high quality education and this is simply not possible without good facilities.Modern facilities

The HZ has modern provisions at its disposal, including lecture halls and laboratories, which all boast excellent equipment. The interactive information network InfoNet also contributes to an optimal study environment. The HZ is very progressive where ICT is concerned.

In addition to the above provisions, we also have a bookshop, a hairdressing salon and a student employment agency.

Studying with a disability

The HZ has a number of facilities for students with a disability. These include specially adapted toilets, an arrangement for students with dyslexia, available areas for students with diabetes, adjustments during examinations, etc. Feel free to contact the student counsellor if you have any questions whatsoever.

Student Life

When your are studying hard, you should also take time to relax and enjoy yourself. At HZ in Vlissingen this is no problem!Here you will have a nice room, vibrant student clubs, excellent sports facilities as well as great restaurants, bars and clubs for a night out. In short, Vlissingen offers everything you need for a wonderful student life!

Accreditation

Government-funded institute

HZ is a government-funded institute, which allows it to award officially recognised degrees and legally protected titles to graduates of its accredited programmes.To obtain government funding in the Netherlands, institutes must meet a number of quality requirements. All government-funded institutes are listed in CROHO, the Central Register of Higher Education Programmes.

All the English-language bachelor programmes of HZ University of Applied Sciences have been accredited by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO). The bachelor programmes are entitled to issue bachelor degrees within their own domains. This way, they fit in with level 6 of the European Reference Framework for Education. HZ is a government-funded educational institute and all the bachelor programmes are registered with the national Centrale Register Opleidingen Hoger Onderwijs (CROHO) (Central Register for Higher Education Programmes). The bachelor programmes meet the European standards and the bachelor diplomas are recognized in the EER.
